Terms of Service

Plain English, and every line describes something Testr actually does. This is the same text you accept in the app.

Payment

You authorize Testr to charge your payment method for each visit you book, at the price shown at checkout. Payment is taken when you book, which is what reserves your arrival window and dispatches a collector.

What your payment covers

You are paying for a certified collector to travel to your address, collect and seal a specimen under a chain-of-custody code, run the on-site screen, and put a record in your account — not for any particular result. Once the collection has happened and the record is in your account, the service has been delivered, whatever the result says.

Refunds, cancellations and missed windows

Cancel from the app before a collector is dispatched and we refund you in full, to the card you paid with. Your arrival window is a good-faith estimate, not a guarantee — if we are going to miss it we will tell you in the app, and you can take the next available window or cancel for a full refund; the same applies if we cannot staff your visit at all. We do not refund a visit where the donor is not there, refuses, or cannot produce a sample within the hour, or a completed collection where you did not like the result.

Consent to specimen collection

By booking, you consent to a Testr collector collecting a urine specimen from you at the address you give, and to that specimen being sealed, documented under a chain-of-custody code, and tested as described here. The person being tested may decline at the door, and the collector will stop.

Booking for someone else

When you book for another person, the order is yours: you are responsible for paying for it, for them being there during your window, and for the truth of what you told us about your right to arrange the collection. If you are ordering as a therapist, an attorney, or a program, you keep your own confidentiality duties to the person tested and you confirm you hold whatever authorization your profession or your program's rules require — Testr is not their provider and cannot carry those duties for you.

Releasing another adult's result

If you book for another adult, we cannot release their result to you just because you paid for it — at the visit they sign an authorization naming you as the person who receives it. If they decline to sign, the visit is still charged and no result comes to you. Whoever was tested can also ask Testr for a copy of their own result and chain-of-custody record, and we will give it to them.

Testing someone under 18

A minor cannot consent to their own collection. A parent or legal guardian must be present for the entire visit and signs the certification in place of the donor.

The on-site test is a screen, for forensic use only

The rapid test read at your door is a presumptive screening result from an immunoassay device labelled for forensic use only. It is not an FDA-cleared diagnostic test and must not be used for medical diagnosis or clinical decisions. A positive screen is preliminary and unconfirmed.

Definitive results come only from the laboratory

A screening result cannot be confirmed at your door. Any result that has to hold up — for an employer, a court, a custody matter, or a clinician — requires the sealed specimen to be sent to an accredited laboratory for analysis by a more specific method (GC/MS or LC-MS/MS), which reports measured levels. Confirmation typically takes about 72 hours. If you did not order laboratory confirmation, you have a screening result only.

What a result can and cannot tell you

A result tells you whether a substance was detected above a set cutoff, in one specimen, on one day. It cannot tell you when the substance was taken, how much was taken, or whether anyone was impaired. A negative is not proof of abstinence — something used outside its detection window, present below the cutoff, or not on the 14-panel will not show up.

Prescriptions and other medications

Legally prescribed medications — stimulants, benzodiazepines, opioids, buprenorphine and others — can produce a positive screen, and no screen can tell a prescribed drug from an unprescribed one. Testr does not review results against anyone's prescriptions and does not clear or explain a positive on medical grounds. Sorting that out takes a laboratory confirmation and the donor's own clinician.

Testr is not medical care

Testr provides specimen collection and testing services. Testr does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or clinical care, and results are not a substitute for care from a qualified professional.

How the collection is protected

Identity is verified at the door with a one-time PIN before collection begins. The donor provides the specimen in private — the collector does not watch them do it. What stands behind the result is the temperature check taken within minutes of collection (90–100°F, recorded on your record), the tamper-evident seal applied in the donor's presence, and the signed certification that the specimen is theirs and unaltered. If a specimen reads out of range, the collector records exactly what they found and draws no conclusion from it.

If the visit cannot be completed

The collector waits 15 minutes past the start of your window for someone to come to the door, and once the visit begins the person being tested has up to one hour to provide a sample. If the donor is not there, will not come to the door, stops at any point, declines to sign, or cannot produce a sample within that hour — or the collector cannot get through a gate, a lobby, or an address that is not right, or the situation is not safe — the visit ends, the record shows it was not completed and why, and the charge stands because the slot was held and the collector travelled. An incomplete collection is not a result, and Testr will not describe it as a positive or as evidence of anything.

Your records: who sees them, how long we keep them

Your result goes to your account — not to employers, insurers, schools, or family members. The companies that make the service work see only the piece they need (the confirming laboratory, our payment processor, our cloud host), and we will comply with a subpoena or court order, telling you first where the law allows us to. Deleting your account removes your profile and your records, except the payment and tax records we are required to keep and anything already sent to the laboratory, which is held under that laboratory's own rules — so download what you want to keep first.

What we don't promise

We promise to collect, handle, and document your specimen carefully and to run the screen the way it is meant to be run. We do not promise a particular result, that any court, agency, employer, school, or program will accept it, or that the service will fit a specific purpose you have in mind. Testr does not testify as a witness or give opinions about what a result means; anything beyond the certified record has to be arranged with us in advance.

The most we owe you

If something goes wrong with a visit, the most we owe you is a refund of what you paid for that visit. We are not responsible for what other people do with a result — decisions about custody, employment, housing, care, or a professional license are theirs to make, and a screen from us is only one piece of information. This limit does not cover anything we do recklessly or dishonestly, or anything the law does not let us limit.

Who you're contracting with

These terms are an agreement between you and Testr, the business that provides this service in California; if the business changes its legal form or is transferred to a new company, these terms move with it and keep applying. California law governs them, and any dispute that goes to court belongs in the state or federal courts in Los Angeles County. If a court decides one part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.

Your account

You must be 18 or older to hold a Testr account, and the information you give us must be accurate. You can delete your account, and the personal data attached to it, at any time from the Account tab.
